Bonsai

Bonsai—Half Welsh 1999 gelding, 13.1 1/2 hands, bright chestnut with flaxen and blaze

Bonsai is a very talented pony and we have had much success with him. He is totally unflappable and consistent on course over fences with style and good sense. He is a confidence builder for beginners. Bonsai has spent many days under saddle in the mountains, gone to events, hunter/jumper shows, dressage shows, clinics and countless all- day play days year round in all kinds of weather.

Bonsai is often the lead pony for timid horses or young stock—taking them across bridges, over ditches through water or “scary” jumps. He has also worn real packs on a 3 day trip into the wilderness, then got braided up the next weekend, competed and brought home blues and reds for us. I have used him in lessons with my beginners, usually on the lunge with side reins. This is a pony that's used to, and safe being ridden bareback with a halter and lead rope. Bonsai can compete with the best and do very well! His conformation is very correct. We've had many wonderful comments from judges regarding how safe he is for a child, and how sensible he is over fences. Bonsai's work ethic and attitude is excellent. This combined with all his other riding experiences, and his “quality looks” makes for a valuable pony and true friend for some lucky child!
